The name PROPHET WITHIN came about from our belief that God speaks to us all when we are faithful & receptive to his varied means of communication. The creator has a mission has for us all while on this earth,even though, we are not always aware of our role in these plans,.But those who seek a relationship with him are that much closer to discovering how God can use them to Glorify the Kingdom.
He has given us all a Gift in some form or another and wants us to use that gift for his glory and not just for our own gratification. Ours is the gift of song and we believe that it is an effective means of sharing and reaching others who have lost their way in these turbulent times. The band hopes to reach at least one lost soul who has been preyed upon by the evils and traps here on earth.Traps set up by Satan to watch us fail in life and in faith. But Through music,personal testimony,& sharing the love and healing power of faith in Jesus Christ ,we can take back the souls snatched up by Satans grasps and influence.
We are living proof of second chances at life through Jesus Christ and his healing touch.

Vocalist & founder Jay Wilson parted ways with his former group in late 2009,...months later he submitted and devoted his life to the will of Jesus,and began to piece together the band in summer of 2010.It was a tough decision at first ,instantly finding himself alone,but he'd soon discover God had bigger plans in mind.
Leaving everything behind gave him a chance to clear his head of all the distractions and sinful ways that had taken over his very being. Its at this point he was finally ready to submit to the will of Jesus in an effort to save himself from what was sure to be an early death. A life of self-medication and sinful exploits catches up with us all at some point. He had taken notice of how God had already began to speak to him through his lyrical writings.Initially leaving his former group was for professional reasons,but he knew an eventual return was impossible as God wanted to complete a change already in progress,even at the cost of any musical pursuits.

Not sure of Gods plan,he walked away from what he once called "His life" to focus on family,knowing God,& most of all sobriety. It didnt take long before God made his wishes clear..In a dream he was doing what seemed so natural,singing.He then began to speak to the crowd and began to walk them through a life of sin,sex,drugs,alcohol abuse & torment that had been his life up to this point....A story that could not have been told if it wasnt for the hand of God pulling him out of the fire each time.

Jay-"GOD DIDNT WANT ME TO QUIT MUSIC,HE WANTED ME TO USE IT!" I KNEW WHAT I HAD TO DO.I KNEW COUNTLESS MUSICIANS BUT NONE HAD AN INTEREST TO BE A PART OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS.GOD JUST WASNT POPULAR IN "THE SCENE" I WAS FINDING. SO I SET OUT TO FIND LIKE MINDED MUSICIANS WHO HAD MADEA SIMILIAR JOURNEY TO CHRIST AND COULD HELP ME IN MY EFFORT TO REACH OTHERS,ESPECIALLY YOUTH. I TARGETED YOUTH BECAUSE I HAD NO GUIDENCE GROWING UP TO TEACH ME OF CONSEQUENCES.IF MY STORY COULD HELP ANY ONE PERSON MAKE BETTER CHOICES AND KNOW THAT GOD IS THERE TO HELP THEM IN LIFE MATTER HOW FAR THEY HAVE STRAYED.

Most musicians he knew wanted nothing to do with Christ, at least not out in the open,but especially not on a stage in front of others. It took some time to find musicians and believers who would understand what the role we had as children of Christ and living proof of his ability to heal the Mind,Body and Spirit. Of all the countless musicians he knew,nobody was interested in doing doing anything but the things he was leaving behind.
After months of searching and praying,God began to manafest the men who would eventually go on to form the group PROPHET WITHIN. But this was no ordinary group of men. They would not only become close as musicians but grow as brothers and believers of our Lord. All involved had been through very similar trials and experiences that have somehow drawn them together in ways they would never fully understand. One thing for sure, God has plans for the men of this band, whether it be musical success or success in our lives & families,to help others,or to simply help one another.Healing seems to be a constant theme within the circle of friends and family involved in this band.
Although initial members, would eventually depart the band in late 2011,to pursue other projects, James and Jay are continuing on with the original vision.They are currently finishing the debut full-length with session musicians and have since filled the void with Billy Matz on drums and Antonio Guerrero on bass.
